Yet they still start with themselves. They optimize existing processes. Departments are reorganized. Systems are modernized.<\/p>\n<p>That makes sense. But often, internal efficiency is confused with actual customer value. Then sales works. Customer service works. Logistics works. Billing works.<\/p>\n<p>Each area on its own.<\/p>\n<p>But the customer doesn\u2019t experience individual departments. They experience the entire service. And with that, they also experience the interfaces, follow-up questions, wait times, and media breaks in between.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thinking About Value Creation from the Customer\u2019s Perspective<\/strong><br\/>True customer-centricity therefore doesn\u2019t start with the existing organizational chart or process, but with the desired outcome for the customer.<\/p>\n<p>The value chain must first be thought through in reverse from the customer\u2019s perspective. Only then is the service delivered forward along the customer journey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Five dimensions are crucial for this:<\/strong><br\/>\u2b50 <strong>Customer benefit <\/strong>| Clarify what specific added value the customer expects. The starting point is not the existing offering, but the customer\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2b50 <strong>Customer Journey<\/strong> | Design the entire customer journey end-to-end, across all touchpoints, business units, and sales channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u2b50 <strong>Services<\/strong> | Derive the necessary services from this. Every service has a customer\u2013; even within the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u2b50 <strong>Business Model <\/strong>| Define clear responsibilities and cross-functional service delivery. Who does what, with what data, in which system?<\/p>\n<p>\u2b50 <strong>Technology <\/strong>| Ensure consistent data and seamlessly connected systems. This allows the customer to use services easily, flexibly, and via their preferred channel.<\/p>\n<p>Important: Customer focus is not just another initiative. It means consistently shaping the entire company from the customer\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br>First, think backward.
